At Flat Earth Farm, we are mindful that many of the most significant barriers to sustainable transitions are social in nature, and reflect an imbalance in values that diminishes benevolence, responsibility, accountability, stewardship and equality of opportunity while prioritizing only economic prosperity.
As a result, Flat Earth Farm will be built on collaboration that looks for solutions to address not only the challenges of small-scale agroecological production, but also the barriers to wellness, opportunity and sustained community prosperity. This will be accomplished by working closely with Just Food, the Ottawa Food Bank’s Community Harvest Program, Savour Ottawa, other non-profit health and wellness organizations, and the broader community of Ottawa.
Our agricultural production and research community includes Just Food’s farmer training and incubator farm program, Cuban Agroecotours, Seeds of Diversity, and Ecological Farmers of Ontario’s Farmer-led Research program, as well as regional Universities and Colleges (Alfred, Carleton, Algonquin).
